Tournament Listings
The following are upcoming chess tournaments on PEI. These tournaments are put on by the Summerside Chess Club, the PEI Youth Chess Association (PEIYCA), and the Charlottetown Chess Club.

Tournament Saturday's:
Tournaments are held on the last Saturday of every month.
Tournaments are held at the Summerside Rotary Library. Tournaments are normally held downstairs, in the ADL Room, from 2pm-5pm. However, the March tournament will be held upstairs, in the Key Room.
The tournaments are rated with Chess'n Math... every participant will receive a national Chess'n Math (CMA) chess rating.
Entry Fee: $10
The Summerside Chess Club is a scholastic chess club (children only), so the tournament is only for children and youth ages 4-18.
PEI Youth Chess Association
PEI Provincial Chess Challenge Championship:
Grades 1-4 Championships: Saturday, April 6 @ 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Grades 5-12 Championships: Sunday, April 7 @ 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Trophies for the top 3 winners in grades 3-9.
Trophy for the winner in grades 10-12.
Players only compete against players in the same grade.
Winners in each grade qualify for the Canadian Chess Challenge, on May 19-20, in Moncton, as part of Team PEI.
Pre-registration (for both events) is by email only.
Registration deadline: April 4. No new entries on the day of the event.
Payment can be made in cash at the event, or by e-transfer to peiyouthchess@gmail.com.

Registration: 10:45am-11:15am
Early Bird Entry Fee: Adults $25, Full-Time Students $20
Regular Entry Fee: Adults $35, Full-Time Students $30
Late Entry Fee: Adults $40, Full-Time Students $35
Additional youth family members: $10
First time player in a CFC Tournament: $10 discount
Format: 8 Round swiss
Games:
11:30am, 12:15pm, 1:00pm, 1:45pm, 3:15pm, 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 5:30pm (all times except for round 1 are approximate)
Time controls: G/15 with a 5 second delay.
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, most-improved, etc.
Note for ALL PEI scholastic-age players:
The PEI Chess Challenge (grades 1-4) is being held on the same day. You can register & play 1 or 2 morning rounds for $3 per round. We will try and ensure that round 2 is finished by 12:40, so that you can get the PEIYCA event.
ALL players must be (or become) a CFC Member, or pay a CFC Tournament Fee.
1) CFC Annual Membership (PEI): Adult $41, Junior (U20) $27
2) CFC Quick Tournament Pass (PEI): Adult $8, Junior $4
3) CFC Membership Dues & Tournament Fees for other provinces.
